About High Five Mom

Hi there! Thanks for stopping by! My name is Kim, I'm 28, I live in NH with my husband, our 4 homeschooled children and our dog, Chance. I love Pinterest, trying and learning new things and homesteading. I'm pro attachment parenting and Babywearing. I love all things Paleo. I also love tattoos and piercings! I'm all over the board - it's more fun that way. Enjoy! 😜

So, I’m clearly still here in the World Wide Web all alone, basically talking to myself but it’s cool. I’ll work on the whole audience thing. I’m going to try this blog thing one more time. I always have some crazy thing happen and it’s like “this is HILARIOUS!” or “OMG who can I tell this to??” and of course there’s “WTF just happened??” Sooo here we go!

Since we last spoke, I’ve had a baby! Our 4th babe is a gorgeous little man (our 3rd boy!) who we’ll call Baby J. He’s now just about 3 months old, exclusively breastfed and so dang perfect. I practice attachment parenting but this is my first time being a part of the babywearing world. Ring slings, ergos and Tulas – oh my! The great part is I have my hands, right? I can go anywhere with confidence! The crap part is my car doesn’t fit all of us and I’ve been stuck at home for 3 months. Yyyyyup. My bad. We’re working on it.

Another new thing in our life is homeschool! We decided to homeschool last year while Lego Boy was still in public school for 1st grade. He enjoyed it and the school was fine but we felt teaching them ourselves and including our own subjects would be so much better! Lego Boy (now 7 1/2) learned how to grill and make pancakes! HE MADE US BREAKFAST!!! Score! My daughter, Tough Cookie (5 1/2), is in Kindergarten so we’re working on reading skills. We believe she has a sensory processing disorder although she hasn’t been tested yet. She’s super smart but her emotions can run high when she feels overwhelmed. But like her “name” suggests she’s one tough cookie, especially being the only girl and she’s rockin it! Little Monster just turned 3 last month and holy hell, he’s a riot! A mischievous comedian is the best way to describe the little devil but I admire his energy and enthusiasm so much. He is WONDERFUL!

So I’ll be sharing lots of fun things from our still-very-new homeschooling world, adventures in extracurricular activities, the insanity that is my life and who knows what else! This blog won’t have a specific topic ever – one day I’ll share a science experiment, the next a DIY project I somehow completed and the next a slow cooker meal! It’s gonna be fun ladies and gents, so stick around! 😃

WANTED: Sanity for the Average SAHM

Hello! Welcome to my blog!

Crap. My cold coffee just got knocked into my lap. Gross. Bummer. But above all, FUCK.

Oh yah – I curse like a sailor. I’m sorry in advance but I’m kind of hoping my potty mouth can let loose on here rather than when my kids are around. Ya know?

Where was I? Right. So it’s Saturday morning here in NH – it’s a beautiful, sunny Fall day. The kind of day that makes you want to round everyone up and go apple picking. However, in real life it’s almost noon and neither my husband nor I have taken showers yet. The dog is laying across the pile of clothes I just folded and the kids are having a dance party out in the room we’ve been renovating for over a year. Apples, shmapples. Amirite??

Let’s get to know each other a bit. I’ll start. I’m 26 years old, married for 6 years. Our oldest son is in 1st grade, plays soccer, is allergic to tree nuts and running (I’m pretty sure) and loves zombies. Our daughter is 4 1/. And at home with me. She’s very spunky, hangs out with her brother and his friends but loves painting her nails, playing dolls and thinks farting is hilarious. She is a daddy’s girl. Our youngest son is about to turn 2 and he is our comedian. He has a bunch of food allergies so he’s the reason I got into Paleo (more on that later). This little devil is also the reason I’m a SAHM (SURPRIIIIISE!). Our dog, Chance, is 8 months old and has completed our family but neither Mr. High Five nor I have ever owned a dog so it’s been a bit of a learning experience to say the least. Ha! I am a cake baker and decorator (think Cake Boss but not quite that famous) and I run a small business. Mr. High Five is a manager at a grocery store and we’ll have LOTS of fun stories from him!

Ok enough about me. I’ll be blogging about craziness, adventures we take, adventures the kids take me on (OMG) and then some recipes and fun crafty stuff from Pinterest I attempt in my spare time. Oh and CAKES! Enjoy!
